The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF), an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), is a private, non-denominational, international development agency established in 1967. It seeks sustainable solutions to long-term problems of poverty, hunger, illiteracy and ill-health with special emphasis on the needs of rural communities in mountainous and other resource poor regions, primarily in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Its main areas of focus are education, health, rural development, environment and strengthening civil society.

AKF is seeking high calibre professional who after a pre-selection process including psychological and technical tests, will undergo full Helicopter Engineer training. The formal training course will take place in Europe. The training will lead to certification via examination. After successful completion, the Engineer will obtain an internationally recognised license and will join the AKF helicopter’s Maintenance team in her/ his country of origin. This opportunity is only open to citizens of Pakistan. The position is to be based in Islamabad.

  1. Maintenance Engineer

The incumbent will report to Maintenance Manager and is responsible for executing safe and efficient processes in aircraft repair, maintenance & servicing to meet operational demands, assist in accomplishment of the Organization’s goals & objectives and to grow internal certification capabilities

Accountable and responsible for communicating abnormalities within the Engineering department; interfacing with Maintenance Manager, Flight Operations to support on-time performance standards; take necessary corrective actions resulting from quality audits and provide assistance with regards to hybrid trouble shooting and recurrent technical problems.

Main responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the highest level of Airworthiness Standards and Safety are maintained
  • Adhere to health, Safety and Environmental regulations as detailed in the Company Safety Management System Manual.
  • Effectively supervise those under his supervision in the performance of their duties and responsibilities and delegate those duties and responsibilities as appropriate.
  • Be responsible for the standard and quality of his own work and for the work of those under his direct supervision.
  • Familiarize himself with and adhere to Company Procedures and Policies in order to meet all anticipated operation requirements in a cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure that all maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with approved Company, manufacturer and Airworthiness Authority published manuals, Procedures and Regulations.
  • Ensure that all maintenance and defect rectification is carried out to the relevant design and quality standards.
  • Maintain a current technical understanding and working knowledge of Company Aircraft Types, Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintain the validity of his license and Company Authorization and ensure that all work certified under that Authorization is within the scope of such Authorization. Any work allocated which is outside such scope shall be reported to Maintenance Manager.
  • Ensure that any aircraft is in a clean and tidy manner.
  • Ensure that any area for which he is responsible is maintained in a clean and tidy condition.
  • Ensure that tools are maintained in a serviceable condition.
  • Report for duty in accordance with work roster.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by his respective supervisor.
  • Maintain personal health to a level fit for the purpose of employment.
  • Reports safety related issues to their supervisor and to safety officer.
  • Travel to remote locations for the purpose of maintenance support for aircraft operating away from the main hangar facility.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with effective problem solving abilities
  • Able to interface effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Microsoft office trained.
  • Capable of using email service/computers.
  • Be able to communicate in both written and spoken English.
  • Able to understand independent private operation and remain loyal to foundation.
  • Able to travel abroad and to pass the EASA training exams necessary to secure a AME license.

Required Qualifications

The incumbent should preferably have Bachelor’s Degree with Engineering background. Candidates with good written & spoken English, excellent interpersonal skills & knowledge of MS Office, flexibility to travel and ability to work in a diversified team environment are encouraged to apply.
