Background: The position is for an international development project working to deliver social infrastructure across Pakistan

 

Position Summary: This position is responsible for increasing community participation in school infrastructure management by organizing community mobilization to establish Community Committees for School Infrastructure (CCSIs), identifying related capacity gaps amongst CCSI and PTC/SC members, working with School Support Team colleagues to provide capacity building interventions to reduce the gaps, and identifying CBOs/NGOs as potential partners for Grants Program component so as to ensure sustainability of the Programme’s community-based interventions.

 

Location: Faisalabad

 

Reporting and Supervision: The Community Development Coordinator reports to Provincial Director/Community Development Manager.

                          

Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Establish good interpersonal relationships within the SST by helping people feel valued, appreciated, and included in discussions; 
  • Proactively build effective working relationships with District Education Officers, PTC/SC Members, CCSI members and civil society organizations.
  • Identify CBOs/NGOs as potential partners in Grants Program component.
  • Facilitate participation of stakeholders in launch seminars and other events.
  • Plan and actively facilitate establishment and capacity building of CCSIs using Community Development methodology steps:
    • Initial entry and Information gathering
  • Organization of Community Assemblies
  • Community engagement with school infrastructure
  • Community involvement in Implementation
  • Consolidation and sustainability activities including identification of CBOs/NGOs as potential partners in Grants program. 
  • Using Capacity Assessment and Training Needs Analysis (TNA) tools to identify related training gaps including Cross Cutting elements / capacity gaps of target Customers:
    • CCSIs;
    • PTC/SCs
    • School Support Team Colleagues
    • CBOs/NGOs; and
    • Self-Development.
  • Facilitate the delivery of related training interventions on project related modules to relevant Customer segments.
  • Participate in the organization and delivery of Introduction Cluster Training for PTC/SCs, DEOs and CCSIs.
  • Facilitate training of partner CBOs/NGOs in Grants programme.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to relevant Customer segments to support objectives. 

 

 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum of a relevant Bachelor’s Degree with a Master’s Degree in Social Sciences being desirable.
  • 4-6 years working experience in development sector or at same position.
  • Written and spoken English (business conversation)  as well as local language(s);
  • IT Literacy: able to use Microsoft word, PowerPoint and Excel at an intermediate level plus has knowledge of Smartphone / tablet applications.
  • Work experience in Community Participation Initiatives is desirable.
  • Understanding of local community and related cultural sensitivities is vital; and
