Development of IEC Material
URDO is seeking an experienced Pakistani Nationals (both individual and firms) for development of IEC materials
Background: URDO in partnership with Actionaid is currently implementing a long-term program “Local Right Program” focusing on Disaster Risk Reeducation and Sustainable Agriculture, in 08 villages vulnerable to Disasters of Peshawar.
The project aims to build / improve awareness, capacity, organization and resilience in these villages along with improving their interaction, coordination and linkages with concerned Government departments. Lack of awareness has been one of the basic reasons for the unexpected heavy loss of human lives during the disasters in recent past in these areas. URDO has planned to develop IEC material keeping in mind the communities’ level of understanding. It has been seen that, due to extremely low literacy rate in the area, the pictorial IEC material is very effective in conveying the complete message to the communities.
Objectives of this Activity:
The purpose of the activity is to aware target communities, especially children on local/domestic/natural hazards through IEC material. Keeping in view the outcome of the project, the IEC material aims to give proactive and critical information to the target communities especially children to increase their knowledge and skills about disaster management, reduction, and mitigation.
Methodology:
The consultancy firm/ individual will develop two type of IEC material (pamphlets & Brochure) in Urdu language. The messages given to communities will be through self explanatory, sketches along with written messages. The developed material will be focused on DRR preparedness, mitigation specifically focused on men, women and children.
Expected deliverables: The consultancy firm/individual will develop self explanatory sketches on the basis of written messages provided by URDO. These sketches will be shared with URDO. After feedback from URDO, the consultancy firm/individual will update/modify the sketches for further approval.
TIME FRAME OF THE ASSIGNMENT: The activity is expected to be conducted in September 2015 with a start date of September-2015.
SUPPORT AVAILABLE: URDO will facilitate and coordinate the process with the consultancy firm/individual; paying the professional fee and providing professional feedback upon the provision of sketches.
SUPERVISION AND MANAGEMENT: URDO will supervise the process. Specifically, the consultancy firm/individual will report to Program Manager and work in close coordination with Project Manager.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS: Professional fee: Interested consultancy firm/individual is expected to provide a budget for the activity .URDO will consider proposals that will be most cost effective / fit budget. However considering the skill and expertise of consultancy firm/individual and suitability for activity, fees can be negotiated.
Formal Contract: A contract will be signed by the consultancy firm/individual upon commencement of the activity which will have detail additional terms and conditions of service, aspects on inputs, deliverables and payment of fees.
APPLICATION REQUIRED: All expressions of interest should include: Cover letter: A short (maximum one page) letter addressing short summary of technical and financial proposal. Technical Proposal:(maximum two pages) highlighting about the consultancy firm/individual with emphasis on previous experience in this kind of work; understanding of the TOR, the task to be accomplished and some sample pictures showing their expertise in the said field.
Financial Proposal: The financial proposal should provide cost estimates for services rendered including consultancy fees and other expenditure related to this activity.
