Key relationships:

Position Purpose

HelpAge International implementing German government funded project “Building Disaster resilience; improve livelihood and health condition of disaster affected population of Muzaffargarh District of Punjab Pakistan. The project is focused on three main programmes i.e. health, livelihood and DRR”.

Under this project 50 community Support Groups-CSGs will be formed which will have representation of all vulnerable groups from the community i.e. older people, People With Disabilities-PWDs, widows, orphans and other vulnerable etc. as the project progress the groups will be engaged in Community Based Disaster Risk Management-CBDRM trainings including DRM planning, early warning systems, first aid and implementation of these plans through mock drills in particular.

Key Responsibilities 

The person for this position will be  responsible for conducting activities related to CBDRM in the community including but not limited to HVCA, KAP, support in formation of VDMCs and sub committees, developing/contextualizing or adopting training contents on the basis of findings of KAP and training of CSGs on CBDRM.

Roles and responsibilities

  1. The persons will be involved in HVCA, KAP and formation of VDMC and sub committees.
  2. The trainer DRR will be responsible for conducting training need assessment with Village Disaster Management Committees-VDMCs and district stakeholders.
  3. S/he will prepare training roll-out plan at district level in relation to other project activities.
  4. S/he is also responsible to arrange discussions/meetings with community and stakeholders on contextualization of Information, Education and Communication-IEC material to ensure that material is inclusive to all vulnerable groups.
  5. She/he will be responsible for translation of material in local language for community and other stakeholders.
  6. S/he will be responsible for coordination with CSGs for venue selection and will conduct DRR related trainings.
  7. S/he will be responsible for preparation of budgets, pre-post-tests for training evaluation , Sex, Age and Disability Disaggregated Data-SADDD databases & analysis and training reports.
  8. S/he will be responsible for preparation of reports clearly indicating the inclusion of OPs, PWDs, women, orphans and other vulnerable groups in the CBDRM activities.
  9. S/he will be responsible for filling process monitoring checklists in capacity building process to ensure that needs and capabilities of all vulnerable groups are acknowledged/addressed starting from Hazard, Vulnerability and Capacity Analysis-HVCA till DRM planning.
  10. S/he will Provide guidance and support to social mobilizers to ensure that tools for measuring degree of inclusion of vulnerable groups are implemented effectively and tailored with capacity building process.
  11. Support in linking the DRM plan of the villages with UCs level and with district level plan.

     12. Any other task assigned by the line manager.

Personal Criteria

Education/ Qualification:            

University degree in social sciences or related field

Experience

  • 3-5 years relevant experience
  • Experience of development training material including manuals, modules, IEC material etc.
  • Experience of conducting trainings in CBDRM

Required Skills      

             Excellent data analysis skills (statistics, etc.),
