Title: GIS Support Consultant
Purpose: Vaccines and contraceptives support and maintenance of web-mapping features
Period of Performance: 01 Oct, 2015 to 30 June, 2016
Place of Performance: Islamabad, Pakistan
The purpose of consultancy is the maintenance and support of logistic information systems (LMIS) and to ensure efficiency in commodity management through increased automation. This will better control stock outs and losses so that client populations are better served. Specific steps for the intervention include: maintain and support LMIS at all levels of supply chain. Because logistics management information systems drives the supply chain management program, a functioning LMIS is key to the program’s success. Web-based technology will be continued to be supported to facilitate timely reporting and the ability to make prompt supply decisions using accurate data.
Overall Responsibilities:
The consultant will be based in Islamabad and will be responsible for provided support and enhance for web-mapping features of enhanced contraceptive and vaccines LMIS. S/he will work under the supervision and guidance of the Senior Manager IT & GIS.
Specific Responsibilities
- Ensure the v/cLMIS web-maps is up and running and working properly and enhance the maps on the new and existing indicators upto Tehsil/UC levels
- Analysis of support issues/bugs and devise a fix in consultation with support/QA team.
- Implementation of fixes as per consulted solution and update the issue status reported in the bug tracker system e.g. Mantis and JIRA.
- Fix the technical and functional defects of web-mapping features
- Involved and review the complete process of software enhancement from inception to adding new functionality or changing existing functionality in a way that makes the web-mapping application more efficient, robust, usable, useful and/or desirable.
- White box testing of all new quick fixes and enhancements and ensure the data is reflecting accordingly in the output i.e. maps and dashboards.
- Ensure that v/cLMIS have latest versions of code and use high standards of programming source protection like remote Bitbucket and SVN code repository.
- Review the end user support material i.e. User Manuals and other technical and training manuals. Inform technical writer about new changes in v/cLMIS and ensure that these changes are well depicted in all technical, training and support material.
- Support the software training sessions of web-mapping features
- Other relevant task as assigned by the supervisor
Requirement and Skills
- Master degree in GIS from reputable university
- At least 3 years of experience in Development of web-mapping application
- Hands-on experience in ArcGIS, QGIS
- Proficient in PHP/MySQL, Javascript, Jquery, Openlayes, Leaflet etc.
