The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF), an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), is a private, non-denominational, international development agency established in 1967. It seeks sustainable solutions to long-term problems of poverty, hunger, illiteracy and ill-health with special emphasis on the needs of rural communities in mountainous and other resource poor regions, primarily in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. The Aga Khan Foundation (Pakistan) [AKF(P)] is seeking high caliber professional for the following position to be based in Islamabad:

1.      HUMAN RESOURCE OFFICER

The incumbent will report to the Manager, Human Resources in organising and maintaining the organisation’s overall HR systems. His/her main duties & responsibilities will be as follows:

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in forecasting the organisation’s HR requirements based on its strategic objectives. Assist Manager, Human Resources in recruitment including to attract a pool of suitable candidates, filtering candidates. Evaluate each recruitment exercise for costs and benefits, time required to fill the openings and quantity and quality of candidates.
  • Assist Manager, Human Resources in analysing, designing, coordinating and evaluating the training and development needs of the organisation to effectively fill gaps between the expected performance and the current performance level of the workforce. Keep records of the knowledge, skills and abilities of the workforce as part of the learning database for effective utilisation of the talent available.
  • Work closely with departments to assist line managers to understand and implement policies and procedures.
  • Providing staff orientation to new employees; briefing every new employee on all AKF(P) policies and procedures; discussing the HR personnel manual & policies and briefing them about the administrative procedures in general.
  • Administrating payroll related coordination with the finance section that also includes salary/benefits intimation for the new joining staff, leave encashment related matters; terminal benefits and payables or deductions at the time of resignation etc. 
  • Preparing employment contracts and other contractual letters, which included completion of probationary period; extension of contracts; re-designations; experience certificates, etc. 
  • Responsible for maintenance and regular update of personnel folders for the staff. 
  • Coordinating with training agencies regarding trainings of AKF(P) staff.
  • Maintaining leave records on a regular basis, updating the staff about their remaining leave balance and related matters.
  • Maintaining regular staff group life insurance, EOBI related matters; also securing timely electronic identity cards for new employees.

Required Qualifications

The incumbent should have an MBA, preferably in Human Resources or having certification in Human Resources and at least four years of relevant experience. Candidates should have good written and spoken English, excellent interpersonal skills, and knowledge of HR Management Information Systems and MS Office.
