Position Summary: This position is responsible for communication and outreach activities for the program in line with organisation policies. The position will have primary responsibility for coordination amongst various partners working on funding organization education initiatives. Take the lead to develop a Communications and Engagement Strategy between the programme, development partners and general public.

 Location: Islamabad – With some travel to Lahore, Peshawar and occasional visits to districts.

 Reporting and Supervision: The Communication and Outreach Director reports to the Team Lead.

 

Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Responsible for weekly, monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual reports to Donor.
  • Responsible for preparing press briefs and dissemination in  approved media
  • Design effective communication products to provide maximum outreach for education initiatives
  • Assist Team lead/Deputy TL in communicating program objectives
  • Assist Advocacy team to effectively work with GoP initiatives for combined media campaigns
  • Assist Team lead/Deputy TL is designing innovative media products to incentivise out of school children to go back to school
  • Provide regular press briefs to media.
  • Coordinate with program and Donor to organize meetings, seminars and press conferences
  • Provide technical support to Technical Teams in organizing reports for Donor.
  • Provide capacity building to local partners and program employees in writing effective reports
  • Work with all team members to develop information brochures that illustrate the positive aspects of educational infrastructure and how it supports a quality driven education system;
  • Assist to develop a programme specific website and ensure that it is constantly maintained and kept updated and topical;
  • Engage with the development partners to ensure that they fully understand where the programme is;
  • Bring all programme partners into the information loop and ensure that they are also contributing to the overall communications strategy;
  • Design innovative strategies for promotion of program initiatives
  • Provide Liaison with Media (electronic and paper)

Required Skills and Qualifications:

 

  • A minimum 10 years progressive programme/project management experience in similar programmes/projects in Pakistan or developing countries, including least developed countries.
  • Experience with designing communication products.
  • A minimum Master’s degree in Mass Communication or related field.
  • Competence in report writing, meeting presentations, and communication skills is essential.
  • Good knowledge of Word, presentation software and Excel is essential.
  • Excellent relations with print and electronic media.
  • Knowledge of DFID and other development partner management procedures will be useful.
  • Must be fluent in English – both written & spoken. Knowledge of Urdu would be an added advantage.
