Specific Responsibilities:

 

  • Co-ordinate and support with Sr. Project Officer for an effective implementation of CBDRR/M activities and assist in implementation cycle.
  • Assist in keeping the project within budgetary controls, planning and implementation of the project.
  • To work with the community for the roll-out of agreed project activities;
  • To assist identifying CBDRR activities e.g. Early Warning, Hazard Mapping, for community members, including farmers, local teachers, parents, SMCs, and also engage women, children, disable, youth and elders in suitable engagement/participation sessions through meetings and sessions;
  • Follow process flow charts of project activities and provide creative insight in making revisions, when needed.
  • Facilitate and support the field team in the process of community mobilization and formation of Disaster Management Committees (DMCs) at village and UC level both;
  • Prepare and deliver various kinds of trainings and follow up support, specially supervise and conduct Capacity building programs at community level for common community as well as DMCs by covering risk assessment and DRM planning;
  • Collect data and develop progress reports periodically to PM, Program Coordinator and AD in order to ensure the provision of accurate and updated information;
  • Provide support in mainstreaming Quality & Accountability into the program and maintaining all the record of project activities and Q & A.
  • Develop, maintain and improve work coordination with local key partners (community, NGO, international bodies, education department and DDMA), to ensure the successful implementation of the project activities;
  • Provide support in formation and functioning of district DRR forum and ensuring conducting its meeting on quarterly basis
  • Facilitate and organize field visits of various stakeholders at field sides for effective implementation and support to ensure sustainability;
  • Ensure that CBDRR is implemented effectively in a good quality standards and ensuring consistency of the work in accordance to the project goal and objectives;
  • Implementing tools such as follow up and evaluation of activities and developing an effective mechanism to ensure it into project;
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining records of training manuals and modules along with project team members;
  • Ensuring adhere policies and procedure/systems of the organization;
  • Ensuring closed coordination with the field team of Thatta in an effective implementation of the project;
  • Strengthening inter-program coordination with other departments and specially with  Social Development Program (SDP) in particular project of Thatta, Sindh;

 

 

Job specifications:

 

Qualification/Experience:

  • For the post of Project Officer a degree from university and 2-3 years experience is considered necessary;

 

Skills/Competencies: 

  • Good communication and facilitation skills;
  • Ability to communicate well and organize trainings for community, DMCs, and
    teachers;
  • Ability to deal with complex and challenging situation;
  • Good command in written and spoken English and computer skills;
  • Reporting and Management skills;
  • Ready to travel and stay out of station any time;
  • Good English, Urdu and Sindhi speaking would be preferable;
  • The Project Officer must be tolerant and sensitive to needs of religious and ethnic minorities, women and the poor.
  • In the absence of the supervisors, Project Officer must have the confidence, initiative, patience and integrity to work independently.
  • The Project Officer is required to follow Organization Accountability Framework and its commitment to the Codes of Conduct practiced by the organization. The Project Officer will ensure his/her commitment to the organization mission and values and for working in accordance to his/her job expectations.
