PURPOSE OF POSITION:

To develop and implement a communications strategy designed to meet the marketing and communications needs of both World Vision Pakistan and the World Vision Partnership as a whole in order to increase and enhance WVP’s profile within WV partnership and other stakeholders. The Communications Manager is to achieve this within the framework of WV’s Core Values, Mission Statement & WVI in Pakistan National Strategy, in the context of appropriate humanitarian aid/holistic development ministry within the country of Pakistan and WV Pakistan’s programme areas.

Major Responsibilties:

a) Develop a national communications strategy that seeks to position WVI in Pakistan as a leading relief and development agency in Pakistan.
b) Manage and regularly update the WVI in Pakistan website, as part of the Middle East/Eastern Europe regional website, which is a platform for support offices and media offices to retrieve fundraising and advocacy information. 
c) Design and produce materials that effectively communicate World Vision’s mission, values and program activities to local audiences, including the general public, churches, government, the NGO community and the corporate sector. This communication should help bring about greater understanding and invoke interest in the work of World Vision and financial commitment to the program.
d) Prepare promotional communications resource packages, such as PowerPoint presentations for National Director as and when required for overseas visits and other initiatives. 
e) Work with senior management to ensure that World Vision’s corporate identity is implemented consistently at national, regional and program levels.
f) Produce a steady flow of written and photographic resources on local projects for use in the communications and marketing activities of World Vision fundraising offices around the world.
g) Respond to specific requests from other World Vision offices for information, stories and photos on the projects they fund.
h) Participate in sub-regional, regional and international communications strategies and initiatives and, where appropriate, implement these at local level.
i) Submit articles for inclusion in the World Vision Partnership publications.
j) Ensure that written and photographic resources are lodged in the WV Partnership communications databases for Partnership-wide access.


I. Relation with appropriate partners
a) Develop and maintain professional contacts with key local print, radio and TV media and assist them by offering story opportunities, arranging project visits and interviews.
b) Develop and maintain networks with international media correspondents based locally and look for ways to interest them in World Vision’s work.
c) Cooperate with WV MEERO, the WV Partnership Offices and WV Support Offices & other NGOs in Pakistan to ensure effective communication in support of the program.
d) Represent WVI in Pakistan with donors & collaborative partners. Represent WVI in Pakistan at donor relations & local NGO coordination meetings, with relevant program representative.

II. Assistance to Projects/ Programs/ WVP
a) Support programs in organizing presentations, media conferences and other related events when necessary.
b) Review all information materials produced by World Vision Pakistan to ensure consistency of messages delivered.
c) Work to attract private donations and ensure proper implementation and reporting for the funding initiatives. 
d) The Communications Manager is to assist ND in other tasks and assignments as needed.


III. People Management
a) Coordinate the recruitment process and identify the most suitable staff for the given sector
b) Provide leadership and build the capacity of staff to develop required skills for their position
c) Provide performance agreements, midterm evaluations and annual reviews to the staff in accordance with WVP performance management system

IV. PMIS NO Implementation:
a) Responsible for developing appropriate communication materials to be distributed to various stakeholders (e.g. regional teams, NO senior management, NO and program staff)
b) Participate in PMIS reflection meetings
c) Promote PMIS with all the stakeholders
V. Security Measures
a) Be familiar with WVPakistan security plan
b) Follow security policies, rules, procedures and instructions
c) Follow WVI policies for prog/proj security management

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• Master’s Degree in social sciences
• Master’s Degree in Communication/Journalism or other related courses.
• Fluent in written and spoken English
• Ability to write persuasive inspirational stories and news for the promotion of PIM programs. 
• Ability to write WV promotions in a variety of media formats to persuade/engage the audience to commit to WV’s vision of fullness of life for every child.
• Ability to transfer skills, knowledge, technology and values to defined target clients.
• Ability to produce visual and printed media in promoting CIM programs and milestones.
• Ability to network with various media outfits to gain media mileage for the advantage of the organization, particularly the CIM programs.
• Strong writing skills needed and Strong story-telling skills
• A good journalistic eye for story angles
• Ability to take strong pictures
• Sensitivity in resource gathering

• Knowledge how to write, develop or manage to develop materials for the partnership/NO 
• Able to support HR and SMT in internal communications.
• Ability to become knowledgeable of WV image/identity
• Able to support orientation of staff
• Assure proper branding with all audiences
• At least 8 years experience in journalism, Communications, news story writing, creative writing or relevant experience in media production-either printed or electronic media.
• Willing to travel extensively within Pakistan.
