‘Market Research for Corporate Social Responsibility Prospects’

An international non-governmental organization (INGO) is seeking to acquire Short Term Technical Assistance -Market Research for ‘Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Prospects' for its Community Mobilization Program in Sindh (CMP). The purpose of the market research is to identify serious prospects to design outreach efforts and establish CSR based relationships.

The consultant will 1) identify major local, foreign, and multinational companies that support development projects within the health and education sectors and CMP’s area of programmatic focus in Sindh; 2) develop a database of these companies/organizations;  3) identify opportunities to develop links between the corporate, government and non-government social sectors; 4) provide  recommendations for approaching the companies/organizations for the support;  and, 5) develop a report that summaries  work done, conclusions, and recommendations. Candidates are required to submit a detailed outline of their previous experience of work of a similar nature.

Scope of Work:

1. Review the publicly available reports of companies listed and registered with Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan and identify the leading organizations that support development projects within the health and education sectors and CMP’s area of programmatic focus in Sindh
2. Perform desk research to identify leading foundations, clubs and non-governmental organizations and gather research data. Focus will be on identifying realistic and serious prospective organizations, foundations, trusts and clubs who are willing to/already contribute to the education sector and whose donations or support has  the potential to produce major impact on SBEP schools
3. Focus will primarily be on organizations working within Sindh but will also encompass realistic and serious prospects elsewhere in Pakistan and/or amongst the Pakistani diaspora abroad

Key Deliverables/Outcomes

1. Compile a database of prospective organizations
2. A report on prospective organizations based on following categories:
   1. Category A: Approximately 50 active listed companies on Karachi Stock Exchange based on their turnover and volume of CSR, with the following information;
      1.                     i.    Focal point contact names, addresses, phone numbers, and emails; and,
      2.                    ii.    Scope of organizations’ CSR work and how it encompasses the scope of SBEP
      3.                   iii.    Amount of potential support available
      4.                   iv.    Category B: 20 active non-listed companies, foundations, clubs and diaspora groups with focus on their CSR activities, including information on their; Names, Sector, Contact details and available CSR information
      5. Category C: All available data on companies, including names and contacts
3. Identify opportunities to develop links between the corporate, government and non-government social sectors
4. Provide recommendations for approaching the organizations for the support

Consultancy Duration:

The duration of this STTA assignment will be 30 days.

Duty Station:

The person selected for this STTA will be based in CMPs’ Karachi Headquarters Office and will involve travel around Karachi with possibility of limited travel to other locations.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelors in Business Studies or similarly relevant degree
• Minimum five years private sector experience preferably including experience of outreach/marketing
• High competency in spoken and written English
• High competency in use of computers and communications technology
• Businesslike, diplomatic and organized in approach & organized and presentable in appearance
