Position Summary:

The Training Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing all training activities implemented in the in the field.

 

Reporting & Supervision:

The Training Coordinator reports to the Senior Field Coordinator and collaborates closely with the Agency Development Field Coordinators

 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and coordinate trainings for field staff, target beneficiaries and subcontractors, as needed
  • Develop training to enhance value chain participant skills and knowledge to increase market competitiveness and productivity
  • Engage staff and grantees to deliver trainings on appropriate land use and water management techniques to reclaim flood damaged or overgrazed lands and to increase cultivation of underutilized land
  • Develop curriculum to train Water User Associations to develop the capacity to retain, conserve and improve water from rainfall
  • Ensure training and communication strategies broaden reach to and participation from all segments of society –women and youth, literate and illiterate, and those that have access to and use technology versus those that access information by more traditional means.
  • Build the knowledge, skills, and productivity of farmers by integrating ICT activities as part of the approach to farmer training and extension.
  • Liaise with local government, academic institutions and other NGO partners to ensure stakeholder participation in activity design and implementation
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 20-25 pounds.

 

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Agriculture or related fields. Master’s degree highly preferred

  • At least 5 years experience in training and/or teaching

  • Demonstrated experience developing agriculture/water/irrigation training curricula

  • Demonstrated experience in Training of Trainers (TOT) or similar models

  • Demonstrated capacity to manage

  • Fluency in oral and written English and local languages required

  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
