Nutrition Officer - MuzaffarGarh (1 position)

 

Purpose Of Position:

 

Main role is to supervise the nutrition team leaders to implement and coordinate health and nutrition programs including: planning, documentation, monitoring, research, and training.

 

Major responsibilities:

 

  • Plan and set up nutrition component of programs.
  • Coordinate with health/nutrition programs and other programs to maximize integration (e.g. Food, child, protection and WASH).
  • Plan and coordinate nutrition assessments of existing and new project areas in conjunction with DM&E department.
  • Compile daily, weekly and monthly progress and technical reports and submit to supervisor.
  • Establish and maintain World Vision and other best practice standards for nutrition programs.
  • Monitor and assist in evaluating health and nutrition program.
  • Ensure that gender and protection mainstreamed in all activities and within the community.
  • Ensure standardization in all programs, timely purchase and transportation of goods to the project.
  • Liaison and coordination with the  EDO Health, WHO, UNICEF, health and nutrition partners working in the same locations to ensure program coherence and avoidance of service gaps and overlap
  • Provide monthly/Weekly statistical reports on nutrition program operations.
  • Ensure expenditures are within budget and in compliance with financial standards.
  • Ensure that monthly cash projections are prepared and submitted to finance.
  • Coordinate all purchases and requisitions with procurement
  • Assess, design and implement appropriate training programs to equip and upgrade knowledge and skills of nutrition staff.
  • Conduct trainings on IMNCI, IYCF, CMAM, preparation of complementary food at home and other related topics to build capacity of health care providers, National Program staff and their replication at community level.
  • Conduct awareness sessions on health and hygiene, diarrhoea, ARI, malaria, WASH, measles etc and other health and nutrition topics for community male and female members.
  • Facilitate researches on nutrition topics
  • Develop IEC material on preparation of complementary food at home, kitchen gardening, health and nutrition   
  • Document training program results and facilitate evaluation process

 

Skills and Knowledge:

 

  • Excellent English and Urdu communication skills (oral and written)
  • Knowledge of Urdu and other local languages particularly Saraiki and Punjabi
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Strong capacity building and facilitation skills
  • Ability to travel to project areas for assessment, regular monitoring and evaluation
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity, flexible worldview, emotional maturity and physical stamina
  • Ability to work in and contribute to team building environment

Understanding of interagency standards

Education & Experience:

 

  • Master’s Degree in Nutrition or Public Health
  • 3-5 years health care program management and nutrition experience.
