PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Child Protection Officer will primarily be responsible for ensuring that the Child Protection activities are properly implemented at the Child Friendly Spaces (if any) and at the Community based organization’s (CBOs) level. He/she will operate at Tehsil/District level providing strong support to CP Community Mobilization officers.

Major Activities:

  • Ensure the implementation of Child Protection activities at CBO’s and Union Councils’ level ensuring appropriate coordination with other sectors
  • Extend the support to Community Mobilization officers (CPOs)/Facilitators in project areas through regular visits, ensuring that activities are implemented in an appropriate manner
  • Provides Child Protection Coordinator with detailed information regarding activities on a weekly basis – add activities as appropriate
  • Responsible for the proper design and monitoring of weekly work plan, registration of children in the project,, and identification/follow up of vulnerable children in the community
  • Identifies potential partners in the community, responsible for training the community (as required) and partners in CP and CR and making sure that Proper guidelines are followed as per WV CP policy.
  • Ensures the participation of all groups of children, especially children who are the most vulnerable
  • Screens for and monitors protection needs and gaps in the community and highlights them. Well versed in carrying out assessments.
  • Supports trainers and at times carries out training for Community Mobilizers and Community Volunteers
  • Child Protection incidents are recorded and conveyed to CP Coordinator immediately

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Masters/graduate degree in social sciences especially development studies, anthropology, sociology, social work, or other social sciences related subjects.
  • Knowledge and experience of community’s issues identification and prioritization
  • Have good understanding and experience of social inclusion approaches involving social mobilization, CVA, advocacy and CDI concepts.
  • Experience of working in community empowerment focused projects while effectively engaging the communities and government.
  • Knowledge and experience in monitoring and evaluation activities, preferably with the social sector.
  • Skills and experience in implementing Programme/project activities with a key focus on sustainability and linkages development.
  • Good writing skills
