Job Summary:

The Horticulture Value-Chain Assistant Manager will report to Value Chain Lead and will assist the program unit in managing implementation of HV/OSV projects, identification of key private sector led interventions, structuring of grant interventions for HV/OSV projects, development of functional linkages and networks in Value Chain, with overall goal to develop horticulture sector of Pakistan. S/he will also carry out value chain analyses to determine appropriate interventions into High Value Off-season Vegetables value chain.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Assume overall responsibility for planning, implementing, monitoring and coordinating the implementation of the HV/OSV activities, together with supporting the preparation of detailed annual work-plans, targets and budgets
• Carry out value chain analyses to determine appropriate interventions into selected horticulture value chains in region
• Coordinate the identification of key private sector led project interventions to foster quantitative and qualitative improvements in the sector, either through direct intervention, through service providers or through specific inputs from international technical assistance inputs
• Under the supervision of Value Chain Lead, undertake responsibility for the preparation and structuring of grant interventions for horticulture projects, ensuring conformity and quality, for ultimate submission to the Grants department for further processing
• Develop the linkages and networks required at Value Chain level, and identify and implement pro-active measures for continued collaboration
• Work closely with sector specialists from time to time for undertaking various assignments
• Assistant in extending Good Agricultural Practices and technologies to the farmers and grantees.
• Provide timely data and reports to senior management as per instructions of Value Chain Lead.
• Any other responsibilities assigned by the Value Chain Lead HV/OSV. 

Qualifications / Experience

• M.Sc in Horticulture/ Agriculture or higher.
• Minimum 3 years' experience related to the above duties and responsibilities, out of which 2 years' experience should be in a similar role related to development of horticultural value chains. Experience of working with International NGOs, donor agencies, or other reputed international development organizations will be a plus.
• Specific horticulture sector experience, preferably with broad ranging skills and capabilities in the management, operation, promotion and development of the sector. A demonstrable track-record in promoting business growth and development, through value chain development, innovative thinking and strong team-building, are considered pre-requisites
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Computer literacy with demonstrated use of Word, Excel, Power Point etc.
• Excellent writing and communications skills in English required
• Willing to travel extensively
