Job Summary:

The role of Private Sector / Agribusiness Development Specialist (PS/ADS) is to implement the HV/OSV Value Chain Implementation Plan in project area. This includes activities planning, designing, execution, coordination, reporting and to provide support to M&E team. This position will work closely with HV/OSV Value Chain Specialist to create a strong link between producer, trader and consumer. Following specific responsibilities are also sought from the incumbent.

  • Assist the Value Chain Lead to follow up with concerned functions at project office for on time procurements, grants and other support services.
  • Design a product and its grant development - budgets formulation, timelines, monitoring indicators and financial analysis
  • Designing and supervision of different trainings and support in preparation effective training material for capacity building activities according to the needs of the beneficiaries.
  • Coordinate with HV/OSV Value Chain Specialist for establishment of market linkages between various stakeholders
  • Provide support and supervise implementing partners in transformation of FEGs into Cluster and Associations following the marketing collectives’ approach. Integrate marketing process into the traditional buying selling system of the FEGs;
  • Identification of potential markets for HV/OSV and linking FEG/Cluster/Associations with identified markets in collaboration with IMLAP.
  • Assessment of the implementing partners’ capacity in marketing process and steps;
  • Development of EOI, RFA, SOW, SOP, Intervention Briefers, Concept Notes, Road Maps and Work Plans/DIP;
  • Development of agribusiness models, formation of business associations for project value chains, registration of business associations, backstopping of business entities till their working autonomously;
  • Liaison with value chain actors, market functionaries, stakeholders, implementing partners, other USAID funded projects, I/NGOs, Govt. etc.
  • Field event preparation and management for project management as well as for donor.
  • To ensure implementation plan of HV/OSV is followed by meeting timelines
  • Any other duties assigned by VC Lead 

Qualification / Experience

  • Masters degree in Agricultural Economics; or Rural Development or MBA Marketing with 5-7 years of experience working in Agri development, Agri Value Chain oriented projects. Prior experience working with USAID funded project will be an advantage
  • Strong analytical skills with proven ability to work under pressure
  • Organizational skills – able to manage multiple tasks
  • Strong communication / interpersonal skills to be able to interact at all levels
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office particularly MS Excel, Office and Power Point
  • Ability to work with farmers, local markets and flexible to travel extensively.
