Specific Responsibilities:

• The livelihoods/food security specialist is responsible for technical monitoring backstopping and reporting of the on-going livelihood recovery project in district Shangla.
• Supervise implementation of CTP/cash-based project interventions such as vouchers, cash grants and cash for work.
• The Livelihoods/Food Security Specialist is responsible for designing and management of Livelihood/Food Security strategy for organization under the supervision/assistance of the Supervisor.
• Develop concept notes/proposals for livelihoods recovery/food security related projects in line with Sphere Standards.
• Provide technical support to the DMP team in carrying out emergency market mapping assessment and designing and implementing cash-based interventions such as vouchers, cash for work, cash grants etc.
• Develop M&E plans and tools for Livelihood/Food Security projects.
• Carry out regular monitoring visits to the project sites as designed in implementation plan, and produce monitoring reports on timely basis.
• Liaison with various stakeholders including district administration and UN clusters.
• Monitor gender-mainstreaming process in the livelihoods/food security projects.
• S/He would support project team to comply with and implementation of HAF in the project areas.
• Generate all required projects monitoring related reports on timely basis.
• Finalize periodic progress reports of the assigned projects for submission to the donors.
• Generate timely reports on all trainings received.

Job specifications:

Qualification/Experience:          

For the post of Livelihoods/Food Security Specialist, an advanced degree from university in Agriculture, Horticulture, Social Forestry, Livestock, Rural Development, Social or Management Sciences and minimum 8 years’ experience in similar position is considered necessary. Must be trained and experienced in Cash Based Programming/Interventions.

Skill/Competencies:                

This position requires comprehensive knowledge regarding development especially livelihood/food security related programming. S/he must have thorough understanding of cash based programming, Sphere Standards and food security in emergencies. He should also possess good inter-personal skill in facilitation and management of other staffs, and networking with relevant organizations.  Excellent report/proposal writing, presentations, decision making, financial and team management skills are among the key requirements for this position.
