The Asia Foundation is seeking the services of an intern to support the digital libraries initiative under the Books For Asia Program.

Objective of the Assignment

 We are looking for a dynamic, energetic intern who is eager to learn about The Asia Foundation (the Foundation) by assisting Books for Asia Program and other projects with their research/project documentation and reporting (if needed). You will also be given the opportunity to work closely with our program teams on different research projects etc.

To be successful as an Intern, you should be willing to help with any tasks assigned by a supervisor. You will be involved in the activities that will be held in the digital libraries.

Key Tasks

  • Become a focal person between The Asia Foundation and the designated school for discussing matters related to digital libraries.
  • Provide orientation and train librarians on the usage of Let’s Read Asia.
  • Able to download and install software in the digital libraries.
  • Produce a monthly report on the needs, utility and shortcomings faced by the users of a digital library.
  • Implement feedback in an efficient manner, in order to improve user’s accessibility.
  • Coordinate and implement activities in digital libraries.
  • Brainstorm and propose ideas for activities and improving the usage of digital libraries in the most efficient manner.
  • Any other tasks required by the supervisor.

Competencies required

  • Proficient writing skills
  • Academic background in computer science and information technology
  • Able to download software and update them

Job Specification

Qualification Required:

  Bachelor’s /Master’s in Computer Science or Bachelor’s/Master’s in Information Technology – final year       student or a graduate

Experience Required:

  Not necessary

Computer/other skills required:

  Good command of MS Office

Any other preference:

-         Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

-         Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

-         Ability to multitask.

-         Cope well under pressure
