Pay scale:                   PKR 210,000 to PKR 220,000 per month

Job Summary

The Cooperative Formation Specialist will supervise the overall cooperative formation and registration process in Gilgit Baltistan. The incumbent will provide technical guidance to the staff, cooperatives and other stakeholders on the process of cooperative formation, registration and ensuring the cooperative organizational strengthening and sustainability. Will keep close coordination with the provincial cooperative department, banks and other financial institutions.

Key Responsibilities

Specifically, the Cooperative Formation Specialist will carry out the following tasks:

• Will carry out registration of cooperatives with provincial cooperative department.
• Will provide technical guidance to the staff, cooperatives and other stakeholders on the process of cooperative formation, registration and ensuring the cooperative organizational strengthening and sustainability
• Support value chain technical lead and staff in preparation and finalization of business plan.
• Support in implementation of business plan of farmer cooperatives.
• Will prepare and guide on the capacity building of cooperative members, management committee and staff.
• Develop strategy for cooperative organizational strengthen and financial sustainability.
• Liaison with the provincial cooperative department, banks, other financial institutions and agriculture markets.
• Develop project exit strategy. 
• Support in preparation of annual work plan, monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
• Ability of working in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic environment and rural communities.

Qualification & Skills

• Minimum 16 years of education in agriculture / business administration / public administration/ economics / agriculture economics / horticulture or any other relevant field
• Minimum 15 years' relevant experience out of which 10 years’ experience should be in a similar role. Experience of working with International NGOs, donor agencies, or other reputed international development organizations will be a plus.
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Computer literacy with demonstrated use of Word, Excel, Power Point etc.
• Excellent writing and communications skills in English required
