Community Mobilizer

Summary:

The USAID-funded Sindh Community Mobilization Program (CMP) supports the Government of Sindh (GOS) in Pakistan, including its School Education and Literacy Department (SELD) and Program Management and Implementation Unit (PMIU), by providing technical assistance, capacity building and related resources necessary to implement localized community mobilization methodologies, to maximize stakeholder participation and to facilitate demand-driven, gender-sensitive, and child-centered interventions that increase girls’ enrollment and engage the private sector in school management. The main responsibility of Community Mobilizer is to support and assist District Coordinator in developing and implementing specific district related tasks as mentioned in ToRs. This position will be based in their respective dirstricts as mentioned below and will report to District Coordinator of that Region with regular travel to the field at regional level.

Specific Job Description:

• Support/assist the District Coordinator in developing and implementing a CMP district monthly work plan
• Preparing and arrangement of events like celebration of school/community level events
• Identifying and seeking support from influencers/community leaders, schools teachers and etc. regarding successful implementation of planed activities both at school and community level
• Assist the community members in developing their own capacity and strength to the point where they no longer need the services of you the mobilizer
• Preparation of students for different event segments like speeches, tableau performance
• Work on educating communities in retention of girls enrolment
• Working on social issues/cultural barriers related to participation of women/mothers in school level activities 
• Work as a linkage building/liaison with focused communities/SMCs and government officials regarding their participation in different activities of the program
• Help DC in development of success stories and case studies from CMP targeted areas
• Coordinate and support M&E unit  for data gathering, validation and submission of required reports in timely manner
• Support/Facilitate procurement unit of CMP for required processes in field.
• Any other duties commensurate with ability and suitable to task

Required Academic Qualification and Professional Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in education, management, social science or related field
• 3-5 years’ experience in community mobilization especially working with School Management Committees and local community
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in conducting and organizing community level meetings, particularly in conducting community/SMC training
• Familiar with the customs and cultural practices of targeted communities (especially rural community)
• Good proficiency in local languages like Sindh and Urdu.
• Possess good understanding of various stakeholders, especially SMCs, local communities, and district education department.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• A demonstrated knowledge of USAID best practices, guidelines, and reporting requirements.
• Strong presentation, communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Ability to participate in all representation and technical meetings in English and Urdu/Sindhi.
• Proven ability to work productively in a multicultural environment.
• Familiarity with local languages like Sindhi and Urdu will be a distinct advantage
• Living and working experience in the Sindh Province.

Region 01: Hyderabad (All community Mobilizers will report to District Coordinator Hyderabad)

Region 02: Shaheed Benazirabad (All community Mobilizers will report to District Coordinator Shaheed Benazirabad)

Region 03: Tharparkar (All community Mobilizers will report to District Coordinator Tharparkar)

Region 04: Thatta ((All community Mobilizers will report to District Coordinator Thatta)
