Purpose of the post

As an integral part of multi-disciplinary health team, the Wathab engineer promotes and ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care aimed at reaching national/international standards depending on the context. S/he designs and implements engineering projects within the scope of the ICRC’s water and habitat for hospital project objectives with supervision and coaching from their hierarchical superior. S/he plans, designs and implements engineering projects with supervision and limited coaching. Carries out needs assessments and surveys and plans new projects. Act as a key interface with external stakeholders and reports to management on stakeholder relations and the general situation.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • University degree in civil, structural or hydraulic engineering.

  • 3-5 year professional experience as engineer with valid license in Pakistan.

  • Proficient in use of drawing software in construction and hydraulic engineering.

  • Proficient in use of AutoCAD and MS project-management suite or equivalent.

  • Very good command (written and spoken) of English.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Draws up documents (drawings, bills of quantities, contracts, etc.) for engineering projects using approved ICRC formats; monitors project implementation for compliance with project documents, ICRC standards, and local building codes/standards, ensuring corrective action is taken where necessary.

  • Supervises several numbers of contractors working on project sites and conducts quality control of infrastructure installed by the ICRC.

  • Creates project files in electronic databases and keeps them up to date.

  • Prepares implementation/progress reports.

  • Provides regular information to colleagues on security, stakeholder issues and site progress.

  • Manages project purchasing on labour and materials according to the delegation's financial rules.
