Purpose of the post
As an integral part of multi-disciplinary health team, the Wathab engineer promotes and ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care aimed at reaching national/international standards depending on the context. S/he designs and implements engineering projects within the scope of the ICRC’s water and habitat for hospital project objectives with supervision and coaching from their hierarchical superior. S/he plans, designs and implements engineering projects with supervision and limited coaching. Carries out needs assessments and surveys and plans new projects. Act as a key interface with external stakeholders and reports to management on stakeholder relations and the general situation.
REQUIREMENTS:
University degree in civil, structural or hydraulic engineering.
3-5 year professional experience as engineer with valid license in Pakistan.
Proficient in use of drawing software in construction and hydraulic engineering.
Proficient in use of AutoCAD and MS project-management suite or equivalent.
Very good command (written and spoken) of English.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Draws up documents (drawings, bills of quantities, contracts, etc.) for engineering projects using approved ICRC formats; monitors project implementation for compliance with project documents, ICRC standards, and local building codes/standards, ensuring corrective action is taken where necessary.
Supervises several numbers of contractors working on project sites and conducts quality control of infrastructure installed by the ICRC.
Creates project files in electronic databases and keeps them up to date.
Prepares implementation/progress reports.
Provides regular information to colleagues on security, stakeholder issues and site progress.
Manages project purchasing on labour and materials according to the delegation's financial rules.
