Project Description:

The U.S.-Pakistan Partnership for Agricultural Market Development (AMD) activity in Pakistan is a USAID funded activity implemented by CNFA with the goal of supporting the development of Pakistan’s commercial agriculture, particularly through improving the ability of Pakistan’s agriculture and livestock sectors to meet both international and domestic demand and requirements in targeted product lines in citrus, mango, high value/off season vegetables and livestock. AMD’s targeted interventions such as training, matching grants, and technical assistance is aimed to leverage private sector investment and encourage innovation. Together, these interventions will upgrade and streamline supply chains, optimize profit margins, increase in horticulture produce export, enhancing participation of women entrepreneurs, and ultimately make Pakistani mango, citrus, meat and HV/OSV production and marketing more profitable and competitive.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

 

The role of this position is to manage the meat value addition grants and be a focal point of contact between the grantees and the project. The employee in this position is expected to coordinate with all project teams like procurement, grants, marketing, communication, monitoring, evaluation and finance in expediting and smooth delivery of the grants, as well as reporting / documenting progress.

 

Specific Duties:

 

The following specific duties refer to meat value added grantees:

§  Coordinate and assist Financial Analysis in verifying meat value added grantees cost share contribution.

§  Coordinate with Procurement and vendors in expediting grant machinery delivery.

§  Coordinate with communications in branding of grant equipment.

§  Coordinate with vendor, grantee, Procurement, Grants and Finance in documentation of delivered grant equipment

§  Supervise BSPs in trainings of meat value added sector stake holders

§  Assist Grants team in closing out of grants

§  Support in developing contractual linkages between meat processor, exporter and feedlot / backgrounding farmers for integrated supply chain in meat sector. 

§  Assist M&E by reporting progress / grant status updates for weekly, quarterly and annual reports.

§  Any other tasks assigned by the Supervisor

 

Supervision/Reporting:  The STTA will report to Director, Livestock Value Chain

 

Working Conditions / Special Considerations:

The STTA is expected to comply with the terms and conditions as noted in the letter of agreement with CNFA. This STTA will based in Lahore and have to travel to Karachi and other cities on need basis.  

Qualifications:

  • Pakistani national;
  • A minimum of Master’s degree in Business Management / Meat Sciences from a reputed institute.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience of regional and international meat industry including animal procurement, feedlot fattening,  supply chain, cold-chain, meat processing, product development, meat retail, marketing, meat branding, and export;
  • Should have diversified experience and know-how of the development sector, multi-nationals as well as of a government department;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the best practices and advanced technologies in the meat value addition
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Working knowledge of USAID policies, rules and regulations preferred;
  • Fluent in English, both written and oral. Fluency in regional languages preferred.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills in a managerial role
  • Strong relationship and demonstrated links with the meat industry stakeholders, especially meat processors and exporters;
  • Team player, with excellent organizational skills, objectives’ delivery and time management;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
