About the program

The project will conduct construction inspections on a monthly basis. Inspections will cover a geographically representative sample of 120 schools per quarter in the two provinces of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa spread across all the districts where work is ongoing. IMC is the implementing contractor for the School Rehabilitation and Construction Programme. Monthly Construction Inspections are presently ongoing and are anticipated to continue to September 2019. Cardno will review the quality and pace of construction and the quality assurance processes put in place by IMC and how effectively these processes are followed in the field as well as the impact these have on the quality and pace of construction. Cardno will identify any gaps in the processes or their implementation and suggest improvements to IMC and DFID Pakistan to improve the quality and pace of construction.

Job Summary 

The purpose of this role is twofold:

  1. To undertake technical inspections of schools constructed to meet the objectives of the TPCI project using the methodology and instruments developed by the Team Leader and Deputy Team Leader.
  2. To complete and submit good quality assessment reports in the format developed by the Team Leader and Deputy Team Leader and in accordance with a defined schedule. 

About you

  • Bachelor of civil engineering or similar.
  • 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience undertaking technical construction inspections.
  • Experience in data collection, collation and analysis.
  • Experience working on or inspecting school facilities an advantage.
  • Experience working on donor-funded projects and advantage.
  • Strong written and spoken English.
  • Report writing capabilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment but also remotely as required.

About the role

  • Work in close collaboration with the Team Leader and Deputy Team Leader and Construction Inspection Specialist to efficiently and effectively implement the project.
  • Complete inspections in line with annual work plans and at the direction of the Deputy Team Leader.
  • Collect and collate data using project inspection tools, forms and database.
  • Support and contribute to project reporting where appropriate.
  • Use tools and sampling methodology specified by the Team Leader.
  • Regularly interface with the Deputy Team Leader to ensure that the project is well supported, risks are managed and/or mitigated, and implementation is efficient.
  • Escalate concerns regarding risks to Cardno representatives, where appropriate.
  • Comply with Cardno’s policies and procedures for fraud, anti-corruption, child protection, health, safety and environment.
  • Other tasks related to the effective implementation of the project as necessary as they arise.

Remuneration
