Job Description

Position duration: 24 months (with milestone at 12 months for performance evaluation)

 Overall:

  • Provide technical guidance and support program monitoring against execution plans
  • Strengthen relations via frequent face-to-face meetings with grantees and government technical leads
  • Support coordination and learning among grantees and donors to ensure best practices and evidence emerging from donor investments are shared to improve implementation of FP programs in-country

 Responsibilities:

  • Act as in-country support to advance Donor’s Family Planning (FP) strategy in Pakistan in support of achieving Pakistan’s FP2020 goal
  • Engage with grantees to provide technical guidance and support program monitoring in support of high-quality, rights-based programs
  • Conduct field visits to monitor progress and gain insights, reporting back to Donor’s designated Program Officer (PO)
  • Conduct thorough analyses of grants and contracts, including grantee progress reports; synthesize and document data, results and lessons learned to PO
  • Consult with grantees and other in-country partners to ensure optimal learning; this may include providing operational guidance and working with the PO to convene meetings of key stakeholders
  • Review letters of inquiry and grant proposals; provide clear, concise and insightful written analyses and feedback for use by the grantee and PO
  • Review latest FP and country data, providing high-level analyses and insights in support of foundation strategy and grantee outcomes
  • Facilitate engagement with government and donor technical leads, as determined by the foundation
  • Review latest data, providing high-level analyses and insights in support of Donor’s strategy and grantee outcomes
  • Provide biweekly updates to PO by phone, and provide a written report that includes days by objective monthly

Core Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of family planning and reproductive health (or related areas of global health) within the context of health systems in Pakistan
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and teams including elected officials, public health specialists, researchers, business analysts, program implementers and other country-based FP stakeholders
  • Excellent listening, written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate with a broad and diverse audience
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills, especially as they relate to use of data and research insights to drive strategic decision making
  • Strong understanding of shaping and managing sustainable and scalable ventures
  • Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully and engage in rigorous questioning and challenging of ideas and data to advance shared strategic goals
  • Ability to give/receive constructive feedback
  • Highly organized and efficient
  • Ability to travel throughout Pakistan (mainly to Sindh and Punjab), and to US at least twice a year

Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 3 years of experience in FP and or public health
  • Experience in global health programs with a focus on FP and/or SRHR in Pakistan

 Duty Station:

 Islamabad, with frequent travel to Sindh and Punjab
