Project Description

The U.S.-Pakistan Partnership for Agricultural Market Development (AMD) activity in Pakistan is a USAID funded activity implemented by CNFA with the goal of supporting the development of Pakistan’s commercial agriculture, particularly through improving the ability of Pakistan’s agriculture and livestock sectors to meet both international and domestic demand and requirements in targeted product lines in Citrus, Mango, High value/offseason vegetable and livestock. AMD envisions transforming the four targeted product lines into efficient, private sector-led value chains that deliver competitive products to domestic and export markets. AMD’s targeted training, matching grants, and technical assistance will leverage private sector investment and encourage innovation. Together these approaches will support upgrading, streamline supply chains, optimize profit margins, increase participation of women entrepreneurs, and ultimately make Pakistani mango, citrus, meat and HV/OSV more profitable and more competitive.

 

Objectives of Technical Assistance:

This STTA position will be based in Lahore and is open to Pakistani nationals only. The Coordinator- International Halal Conference Documentation and Delegates, will provide support to the marketing team and PHDA in organizing the 7th annual International Halal Expo and Conference 2018 which is being held in Lahore on the 17th and 18th of April, 2018. The coordinator will undertake all tasks assigned to him related to the Expo and Conference by the Marketing Director AMD but will be responsible for specifically coordinating all tasks related to conference documentation and international delegates. The Conference will be held on the first day of the event (17th April 2018) while the training on Halal Compliance, Food and Safety will be held on the second day of the event (18th April 2018).  The conference and training will bring together local and international exhibitors, producers, buyers, input suppliers, value-added product producers, financial institutions, and policymakers.

Assignment Scope:

  • Assist PHDA through AMD in organizing 7th International Halal Conference and Expo on 17-18 April 2018;
  • Coordination of all arrangements (logistics, security agencies etc.) of attending national and international delegates;
  • Development and maintenance of web page for Halal Conference and Expo;
  • Liaison with vendors and contractors for organizing conference and training (hotels, food vendors, etc.)
  • Coordination, with various teams for smooth logistics and other arrangements of the event; and
  • Any other tasks related to the Halal Expo assigned by the Marketing Director AMD.  

 

Deliverables

  1. Fortnightly progress report
  2. Monthly progress report at the end of each month
  3. Final report pertaining to the Conference and Training
  4. List of conference and training participants

 

Minimum Qualification:

  • Pakistani national;
  • Experience in organizing international/national conferences;
  • Understanding of organizational procurement rules;
  • Ability to coordinate and negotiate with vendors;
  • An advanced degree in computer science/ business management;
  • Halal certifications from any accredited Pakistani institute/agency;
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively coordinate with the stakeholders;
  • Effective record keeping;
  • Creativity and a willingness to innovate, think systemically and;
  • Fluency in English required;
  • Fluency in Urdu preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements:

  • Understanding or prior exposure to halal livestock/agriculture/horticulture sector;
  • Ability to perform successfully as a member of multiple project-related teams;
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments
  • Strong computer literacy skills required in word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, web browsers, and email;
  • Demonstrated excellent communications and writing ability;
  • Demonstrated successful interpersonal skills;
  • Fluency in both English and Urdu required; other Pakistani languages preferred;
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality work under pressure and deadlines.
