Program objectives
AMD aims to strengthen the HVOSV product line by supporting the private sector investors (exporters/processors) on cost-share basis to maximize its profit margin using sea freight shipments for mixed vegetables including carrots. Through this intervention, vegetables with the same storage requirement and ethylene productivity/sensitivity will be shipped via refrigerated marine containers to the GCC. Technical support will be provided by AMD’s technical team. An international packing and shipping expert will be engaged by AMD to provide technical Assistance (TA). Availability of the ISTTA will depend on timing of visa. These shipments of mixed vegetables including carrots are a follow-up of the trial sea freight shipment facilitated by AMD in 2017. The qualifying exporters/processors will also be provided technical support on handling and post-harvest handling of vegetables for their export market.
