Project Background:

The Pakistan Agricultural Technology Transfer Activity (PATTA) funded through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has been working since April 2017 to increase smallholder farmers’ access to markets, alongside their overall development impact and cost-effectiveness. By building on CNFA’s 10-year history of successful implementation in Pakistan, PATTA is galvanizing ongoing private-sector investment to commercialize the types of agricultural technologies that enable smallholders to increase their incomes, improve farm productivity, create jobs, and enhance economic growth and stability. These technologies include seeds, fertilizers, water pumps, improved plant and animal breeds, precision agriculture, and integrated soil fertility management, amongst others.

Position Description:

Working under the direct supervision of the program's Director of Business Development and Marketing Services, the project BDS/Marketing Officer is responsible for designing and executing a comprehensive working strategy, business model with financials and technical and financial analysis of productive technologies to smallholders and address the key factors affecting/contributing behind the low productivity and less profitability of smallholder farmers.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

The main duties of the BDS/Marketing Officer are to:

  • Design and develop strategy, business model with financials, implementation work plan and budget for specific productive technologies. The work plan, budget and strategy should reflects the overall requirements of anticipated activities;
  • Conduct BDS gap analysis through a robust consultation process to identify and develop “most appropriate and doable” set of BD services for program beneficiaries;
  • Develop, coordinate and record day-to-day field work activities e.g. marketing and promotional activities, liaising with sector stakeholders, individual meetings, presentation, and potential areas of working to achieve assigned targets;
  • Responsible for raising awareness, knowledge and compatibility of program beneficiaries and BD service providers to strengthen the outreach and to achieve the project targets;
  • Design and develop a separate working strategy for women owned smallholder farms and support them through matchmaking with relevant BDSP(s);
  • Design and develop innovative and effective marketing, product and service improvisation initiatives to support the interested BDSPs to improve their service delivery and products for increased profitability; and
  • Any other task, assigned by the Director of Business Development and Marketing Services or Chief of Party.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • At least seven years of relevant, professional experience in roles with increasing levels of responsibility required, 10+ years preferred;
  • Minimum of Bachelors' degree required in Marketing, Agricultural Economics, Business Administration, or other relevant field; master’s degree preferred;
  • Experience supporting donor-funded projects is required, USAID experience preferred;
  • Experience working in or with relevant public and private sector actors strongly preferred;
  • Strong interpersonal, communications, and leadership skills, especially in dealing with those from other countries;
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to details; and
  • Fluency in English is required
