Purpose of the Job:

 

The ICRC’s public communication plays a key role in its mission to ensure respect for the life and dignity of people affected by natural or man-made disasters.

The Communication and Public Relations Department drives, support and supervises the ICRC’s efforts to connect with relevant audiences in variety of ways including through production and promotion of audio-visual material, info graphics, animations and other products. The digital communications officer role, based in Islamabad, is responsible for conceiving, developing and promoting communication products through relevant digital channels.

This will ensure an integrated approach to public engagement in support of the ICRC’s objectives, issues and priorities.


Requirements:


  • Master’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism or any appropriate discipline, preferably with a digital background and specialization (managing websites, social media platforms, video projects, etc.).

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in digital communication/internal communication, and in event management an advantage.

  • Excellent writing and editing skills

  • Videography: recording, editing, and production skills

  • Design: Can edit photographs and design artwork for social media

  • Should have a working understanding of Premier Pro, Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator

  • Excellence in English language with an ability to create content in Urdu when required.

  • Experience in publishing and engaging using social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.).

  • Experience in web editing and familiarity with search engine optimization.

  • Excellent public speaking skills and ability to communicate about technical matters to audiences in training settings.

  • Familiarity with ad management (Google Ads, Facebook, Twitter).

Responsibilities:


  • Create, edit, repurpose and deliver a wide variety of engaging content for digital channels, targeted at range of key audiences including the general public.

  • Contribute to a digital communications strategy including social media plans

  • Be able to conceive and narrate human angle stories using various digital/technological newness to promote ICRC’s work in Pakistan

  • Support the development of a narrative-driven approach to digital communications, prioritizing engagement over simply publishing, and working with internal stakeholders to assess content opportunities, provide content strategy recommendations, and evaluate the strategic value of proposed content.

  • Train, guide and support colleagues in the delegation to manage and report on digital platforms. Be available as an ongoing resource for training and campaign evaluation.

  • Monitor website, social media and other online statistics, reporting on results and then working with other colleagues to improve usability, engagement and visibility.

  • Co-ordinate and initiate new e-newsletter.

  • Work closely with deputy head of communications and public relations to develop an integrated and coherent approach to communications and activities across online and traditional channels, using media opportunities to drive engagement and digital content’s impact.

  • Support communications and public relations department in handling media relations.
