Project Description:

The USAID Training for Pakistan project provides turn-key participant training and capacity development services that are uniquely specialized for USAID/Pakistan Mission teams and public and private implementing partners.  The primary purpose of this program is to provide participant training and capacity development services to USAID/Pakistan’s contractors, grantees, and partners under Government to Government assistance programs, and at times to the Mission directly. 

Position Summary:

The IT Officer will develop and assist in deployment of IT support functions for the program. The IT Officer will be responsible to provide support to the Technical and Admin teams in supporting the IT structure for data automation, developing and maintaining consistency among Management Information Systems.

Key responsibilities (includes but not limited to):

  • Responsible for Networking and IT Infrastructure internet Sharing Access.

a)      Manager multiple internet connections for three project, TFP, SYP and AGES.

b)      Monitor the internet usage to ensure smooth internet connection for official activities.

c)      Internet Access of all staff computers and grant and revoke access to official guests.

d)      Manager and troubleshoot 50 port LAN in the office.

e)      Share and install printers, photocopier and scanners to staff computers

f)       Installation  and troubleshooting, of operating system, software and  antivirus

g)      Manage and secure wireless networking environment.

h)      Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults.

  • Website Management

a)      Upload and update information, audio video materials on project website and social media

b)      Ensure the security of website and regularly update the credential.

c)      Consult and coordinate with web vendor for implementing required changes.

  • Server Management

a)      Managing and troubleshooting window server 2008 r2 having active directory and file server role.

b)     Managing and troubleshooting Linux server Ubuntu 16.04 for internet sharing, and bandwidth monitoring (via Squid 3.0, webmin, sshreports and ntopng)

c)     Specify and assist in selection of database and application systems.

d)     Configure and deploy databases as required by management. 

e)     Develop applications and modules to support office functions.

  • Internet and System security

a)      Install all the latest updates and patches on the computer and server machines.

b)      Securing computer and servers by installing antivirus.

c)     Apply appropriate control to IT equipment to ensure system security.

  • Email accounts and DL management

a)      For office 365 email account and distribution lists creation and deletion consult with head quarter team.

b)      Manage user accounts, and update distribution lists from Microsoft portal

c)      Configure Outlook and emails on staff computer and mobiles

d)      In case of mobile loss wipe email and data remotely.

  • Data backups

a)      Take data backup of the file server or regular bases via automated tools or manually.

b)      Assist staff in taking backup of their official data and emails.

c)      Take the backup of  official data upon staff leaving the organization

  • Help Desk support

a)      Provide IT related assistance to carry out daily official activities

b)      Installation and Managing and troubleshooting of Microsoft Window 7, 8 and 10

c)      Assist staff regarding Microsoft Office (10, 13, 16, and office 365) and troubleshooting

d)      To maintain and update computer hardware and software, as required

  • IT Equipment and software purchasing

a)      Assist Management in setting equipment specification

b)      Assist procurement team in identifying competent vendors for purchasing, repairing and warranty claim of IT equipment.

c)      Inspect and validate IT equipment according set standards. 

  • IT Inventory

a)      Keep the inventory of IT equipment in assistance of admin operation assistance.

b)      Keep the track of installed official software and antivirus on staff computer

  • Data Sharing & Collaboration

d)      Create, manage and share appropriate folders on file server and apply NTFS permission.

e)      Create and manage share mailboxes and configure on network scanner/ copier for scanning. 

f)       Assist staff regarding One Drive for business and drop box for data sharing and collaboration

g)      Provide support for conference call via skype, skype for business, go to meeting and zoom.

  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Reporting:

This position will be based at the Training for Pakistan Project office Islamabad.  The IT Officer will be working under and report to the Director Finance & Operations.

Qualifications:

  • Five years of practical experience in working with USAID or other donor-funded training  programs
  • Master's Degree in relevant field 
  • A relevant post graduate degree
  • Team player, able to work respectfully and cooperatively with colleagues or different national and cultural backgrounds;
  • Demonstrated personal commitment to peace, tolerance and development.
