Project Description:

The USAID Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governance (KPG) Project will support the development of a stable, democratic, and prosperous Pakistan. The project will promote the success of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (GoKP) and its reform agenda by engaging directly with provincial departments, sustaining public engagement and strategic communications, and providing integrated assistance “packages” of activities that support specific GoKP objectives.

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of Senior Communications Specialist, the Audio-Visual Content Developer will support KPG’s communications department in establishing a creative and interactive communications platform. The Audio-Visual Content Developer is expected to be a creative designer for KPG’s communications for both internal and external consumption. The work demands creative flair, up-to-date knowledge of industry software, and a professional approach to time, costs, and adherence to deadlines.

Reporting & Supervision:

The Audio-Visual Content Development Specialist will report to Senior Communications Specialist.    

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and design themes for different program activities/events for offline and online use
  • Work on layouts and artwork pages and ready for print
  • Format key documents such as reports, briefs and one-pagers
  • Develop in-house publications such as success story and testimonial booklets
  • Provide video coverage for program events
  • Lead video-based/multimedia content development and direction from project conception through project presentation, including but not limited to: i) development of script and story board; ii) Scheduling production, camera and editing time; preplanning taping to ensure the necessary equipment and visuals are available; iii) Exercising independent judgment in the assembling and editing of videotaped material to ensure visual cohesiveness by assessing narrative and visual context; iv) Maintaining accurate records, logs and transcribes production activities.
  • Using USAID’s branding and style guidelines, create print material templates and incorporate style guide in final videos.
  • Travel to the KPG office in Peshawar, and project sites as/when necessary to fulfill the assignment’s requirements.

Deliverables:

  1. Prepare 6-8 interactive infographics in coordination with M&E team and the Media and Reporting STTA in Peshawar
  2. Develop 15-20 post card stories for offline and online use.
  3. Design 4-6 posters/standees highlighting the vision and mission of KPG Project. Supervise the final printing of posters and standees.
  4. Format monthly and quarterly reports on In Design
  5. Develop one brochure and one one-pager for KPG in English and Urdu. Supervise the final printing of the brochure and one pager.
  6. Prepare 3-5 HD videos based on approved success stories for offline and online media
  7. Support the designing and organization of 1-2 high profile events in Peshawar.

Essential Skills:

  • Exquisite design sense and attention to detail
  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically: Photoshop, In Design, After Effects and Illustrator)
  • Proven understanding of typography, layout, color and grid structures
  • Expertise of working on In Page for preparing Urdu and Pashto text
  • Knowledge of broadcasting production techniques
  • Skill in visualizing and shooting concepts effectively
  • Skill in post-production and editing on advanced software for video editing

Highly Desirable Skills:

  • 2D and 3D animations and motion graphics
  • Illustrations and sketch drawing
  • Photography with skills and experience of editing on advanced softwares

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelors in mass communication with special focus on multimedia projects
  • 4-6 years of experience (preferably in an advertising-cum-production house)
  • Experience in designing creative public-facing materials and digital campaigns (including banners, microsites, emails)
  • Proven expertise of gathering video-graphic content in KP Province and/or FATA
  • Experience of developing layouts of annual reports and other publications in In Design
  • English and Pashto languages are required
