Introduction:

An international nonprofit organization (INGO) seeks applications for the position of Provincial Program Coordinator in Sindh.

Relevant Experience:

  • Master’s degree preferably in agriculture, agribusiness, horticulture and other related disciplines.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in agribusiness development with focus on value chains, technologies, post-harvest management or other relevant experience.
  • Strong supervisory and management skills including direct supervision of professional and support staff.
  • Strong intellectual and leadership skills and agribusiness background.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the horticulture sector of Pakistan, and domestic and international marketing systems.
  • Prior experience of working with similar US funded projects will be preferred.
  • Experience of working with donors, NGOs, and government organizations.
  • Excellent team building and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Able to produce high quality work under pressure and deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments.

Job Description:

  • The Provincial Program Coordinator will act as the provincial focal person. He will coordinate and supervise implementation of Project activities in Sindh Province and work closely with Deputy Chief of Party.
  • Will technically assist and contribute in the development of work plan for Sindh province and ensure its implementation in collaboration with the potential partners/stakeholders including farmers, farmer groups, input suppliers, manufacturers (technology), processors, credit institutions and others in accordance with the project document.
  • Responsible to manage day-to-day administrative requirement of Hyderabad Office and direct & manage activities of operations staff. 
  • Will develop linkages and maintain effective coordination with the project field teams in Sindh and potential partners/stakeholders in the public and private sectors to soliciting their support for the timely and successful implementation of project interventions in Sindh.
  • Under the direct supervision of Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP), the Provincial Program Coordinator Sindh will be responsible to:
  • Represent the project and act as focal person for all project related interventions and coordination in the Sindh province.
  • Technically assist the senior management (COP & DCOP) in planning, implementation and reporting of program activities with particular reference to Sindh province.
  • Lead and ensure timely implementation of program’s planned activities in Sindh, working with field teams to develop and regularly update work plans, implementation plans, chase the targets and assist in internal controls and risk management.
  • Identify challenges, obstacles and issues that may adversely impact program implementation and work proactively with DCOP and field teams to address them.  
  • Build capacity of the target beneficiaries (partners/stakeholders) to ensure their effective participation in the program interventions.
  • Promote partnerships and maintain effective working relationships with the potential stakeholders, organizations, government departments and donors for complementing and sharing experiences for the mutual benefit.
  • Participate in senior management meetings and contribute through discussions and suggestions and ensure implementation of decisions of the meetings.
  • Directly supervise activities of Project Value Chain Specialists in the Province. 
  • Produce high quality periodical technical and progress reports highlighting program achievements, especially in relation to performance indicators.
  • Keep close coordination with M&E Specialist to highlight program achievements and success stories.
  • Organize trainings, meetings, workshops, field days, expositions and other project related events.
  • Promote farmer-market linkages to facilitate efficient and profitable marketing of produce and access to knowledge, inputs, technology and credit.
  • Organize farmer and other stakeholder groups to enlarge their capacity to undertake collective (inputs/technology) sourcing, marketing, pack-houses, storage, processing and perform other functions that contribute in developing their respective businesses.
  • Guide and support project’s team in disbursement of grants to the project beneficiaries in the project districts in accordance with the project document.  
  • Coordinate with Head and other Provincial offices for regular exchange of information and updates.
  • Supervise technical and support staff, and work with relevant program personnel to ensuring best practices/systems for office management.
  • Establish linkages and maintain effective working relationships with potential project partners including federal and provincial government organizations, non-governmental organizations, credit institutions, inputs (including packaging) suppliers, certification bodies, technology manufacturers/suppliers, (commodity) domestic market and export traders, processors, transport companies, storage owners/operators, analytical and other services, etc.
