DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee and manage the planning for and implementation of field work:

  • Undertake training of mobile survey app users and other field staff and manage day to day logistics during field work in Lahore including troubleshooting  and regular communication with project leadership;
    • Oversee and manage smartphone app based data collection on perception of women's and men's safety in Lahore's public transport system;
    • Coordinate field activities with stakeholders including in the provincial government, professional psychologists, urban and transport planners, software engineers etc.; and
    • Organize regularly meetings with project team based in Washington DC in close coordination with faculty member at ITU Punjab.

 Conduct data cleaning and data analysis: 

  • Conduct data spot checks, data cleaning and recoding, data analysis, and visualization with software such as STATA and SPSS; and
  • Experience of geospatial analysis tools such as ArcGIS or QGIS will be an asset.

 

Support research dissemination: 

  • Write blog posts, opinion pieces, and policy briefs on collected data; and
  • Represent project in meetings with government and other stakeholders.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Education:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender/women's studies, sociology, international development, transportation planning, or a related field.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years relevant work experience at the national or international level in overseeing and managing field data collection activities
  • Experience in leading/managing field teams;
  • Experience in establishing relationships among international organization and national governments in the field of gender and human rights of women;
  • Experience working with the Punjab government is an asset; and
  • Experience in research projects on gender/women’s studies and/or public safety and transportation planning is an asset.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English, Urdu is required; and
  • Knowledge of Punjabi is an asset.

Duty Station:

  • Lahore, Punjab

Duration of contract:

  • 6 months (extension possible)
