Background

John Snow, Inc. (JSI), a leader in global health, is currently recruiting for a Safety and Security Focal Person for a recently awarded USAID-funded three year KP-FATA Health Initiative (KPHI) in Pakistan. The overall goal of the project is to increase the availability of quality maternal and child health services in seven districts of the Malakand Division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) to improve the health outcomes of mothers and their children. This is a full-time position that will be based in Peshawar, Pakistan. The Safety and Security Focal Person will report to the Director of Administration.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Serve as the primary security point of contact and coordinate closely with the Mission, NGO liaison security officer, COR/CO, and home office as appropriate on all security related issues;
  • Conduct site security assessment and ensure that infrastructure and security systems are active, and operational;
  • Responsible for ensuring that the JSI Field Office Safety & Security Manual (FOSSM) is adhered to and up-to-date;
  • Conduct trainings for staff including personal security, road movement procedures, information security, first aid, etc.; 
  • Prepares reports on security incidents affecting KFHI staff, office and assets;
  • Provide routine security updates to COP and KFHI staff;
  • Oversee security and guard operations at staff office;
  • Monitor ongoing vehicle and transport activities utilizing strict journey management procedures and the SOP.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or specialized certification in safety and security.
  • 8-10 years’ experience overseeing safety and security programs, preferably with an international NGO.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety codes.
  • Experience in diplomatic security, protection, and intelligence is an asset.
  • Willingness to travel throughout KP/FATA as needed.
